Considering recent school closures and one confirmed case of COVID-19 in Shelby County, we wanted to reach out to our staff and assure you that we are following the CDC and CMS guidelines very closely. Based on our patient population, the risk of our patients being exposed to the virus is very low.  However, we know that many of our staff may work in other facilities where the risk of exposure could increase.  We are asking that you continue to be vigilant in universal precautions and frequent hand washing. We also ask that you notify the office immediately if you are experiencing any respiratory symptoms with a fever of 100.4 or greater.  If you work in a facility and suspect you may have been in contact with the known COVID-19 patient, notify Ashley Housman immediately at 901-853-3999 ext. 102.  If after hours, call the on-call line at 901-853-3999.

If your patient develops any new respiratory symptoms or has a fever of 100.4 or greater, you need to notify their primary care physician and seek further guidance.  Do not immediately attempt transfer to the hospital.  As we are all aware, our patients frequently experience these symptoms and we do not want to contribute to the overcrowding of our physician offices and local emergency resources where exposure to the virus is significantly increased.  Please ensure you are communicating any illnesses with No Place Like Home.

If you are aware of any travel outside of the United States by any of your patient’s family members, please notify the office so that we can follow up with a phone screening and take action, if necessary.

Currently, we are awaiting additional shipments of hand sanitizer, gloves, and masks.  However, as you know quantities are very limited and we have been told that resources are being allocated to the highest priority facilities first.  The best way to keep you, your family, and our patients safe is to practice frequent hand washing.  If the home you are working in does not have access to hand soap and paper towels, please let us know and we are happy to provide those supplies for you during this time.  As always, the health and safety of our patients and staff is a top priority.
